Despite the relentless summer downpour, The Fisherman's Larder had a great night meeting people from all over the world at The Night Market, just outside St Andrews! The regular event is hosted under cover in a very cool, modern-rustic barn at Balgove Larder, with a huge indoor BBQ providing extra warmth. So, whatever the weather, visitors can come out to enjoy a vibrant atmosphere at a refreshingly original showcase of food, drink and music!
We were there to give people a taste of our local, just caught dressed crab, lobster and Pittenweem Prawns. We also made the most of the night, enjoying samples of artisan produce from around the market, including gourmet marshmallows from The Marshmallow Lady, the tastiest vegan health food from Good Food, Good Feelings, steak skewers from the Steak Barn's own grill, Chillilicious chutney and flavour-packed, local rapeseed oil dressings from Summer Harvest. The local ales and cocktails from Eden Brewery flowed too, as did music from foot-tapping folk band, Wire & Wool.
So, as torrential rain soaked the surrounding farm land, we stayed undercover and enjoyed an abundance of simple pleasures inside the barn! This is the perfect market for a relaxed, mid-week evening and our wonderfully unpredictable Scottish summer...
